Break The System Project was founded in February 2025 to transform how young adults navigate the journey from system impacted housing instability to lasting independence.
We don't just provide resources we help build roots.
OUR MISSION
To empower system impacted young adults (18-24) who are experiencing instability by providing them with wrap around support, spaces for creative expression and systematic advocacy.
OUR VISION
We envision a Chicago where system‑impacted young adults are healed, housed, employed, and leading their communities with confidence and purpose.
Our Four Pillars
True stability starts from within. We provide trauma-informed mentorship, personal support systems, and a safe community network to help young adults process, recover, and ground themselves.
We utilize creative outlets and community safe-spaces—like our Monday Drop-In as tools for expression, connection, and positive peer engagement.
Long-term independence requires economic mobility. We equip participants with contract-ready independent living skills, budgeting workshops, and direct pipelines to workforce opportunities.
We bridge the gap to permanent stability by connecting participants directly to local housing resources, helping source furniture, and cementing deep, lasting community ties in Chicago.
